First time at a smash burger and it's pretty good. I got the classic smash burger and it reminds me a lot like shake shack's burger but much bigger. It was a tasty burger and fresh tasting for a fast food joint. The fries are good! The onion rings are not. The oreo shake is pretty good but don't get the caramel shake. Lots of seats and very clean.

Great place. Very clean and nice inside. Staff was very friendly. 2 choices of burghers. Regular 4oz and 6oz. Diferent kinda of buns to choose from. Great salads and their smash fries are great. If you wanna try a 100% premium beef burgher with fast service. Smash is the place to go.

There is one way to describe this place. Expensive! But, it is a favorite amongst the kids. Not convinced that's it's the taste of the burger and fries they enjoy, I believe it's the copious amount of salt on EVERYTHING!

Great tasting burger. The classic big was a nice size. The bun had good texture and was slightly undersized for the burger. Completed with tomato, red onion, lettuce and cheese. Cheese fries at first glimpse are lacking on the cheese. But as you dig deeper you strike gooey gold. Sweet potato fries are crispy. Many time I get them and they are usually on the limp soggy side. These weren't. Vanilla shake was tasty and just the right thickness. Overall the portions were just right and not too greasy..,,, if that's possible.

Good burgers, gluten free buns (which is exciting to me) and tasty sides! The line tends to be long with usually only one person ringing...which is odd as there tends to be 4 or 5 people at the food counter. But, hey, I don't run the place! Servers that bring the food are always very friendly and do their best to keep the store clean! A good place for a relatively inexpensive meal! WAY better than McDonalds for sure!

Food is just OK, just very expensive for a burger place. Hate places like this that don't include things as a "meal". Burger+fries+drink = easy $20

Always felt strange writing about chain restaurants, but considering this burger is better than most pub burgers I've ever had, I just couldn't pass it up. Nothing fancy, but you will get an awesome burger, with pretty much whatever you can dream up to put on top of it. The cheesy fries are to die for!!!

It's a typical fast food place but with clean decor and cutlery. This place is always kept clean and the staff has never been rude, even as my indecisiveness holds up the line. I don't really enjoy their burgers, because its a bit too chewier than I prefer. However, their salads are decent and I am in love with the cheese fries. The fries themselves are very thinly cut haystack kind of fries, which you might enjoy if you prefer McD shoestring to thicker cut fries. The cheese sauce is great. It is not nacho cheese nor is it a slice of cheddar melted on the fries. It feels almost like a cheesy roux. It is not the most conveniently located because the intersection gets crazy during high traffic times, but it's clean, the food is solid, and they won't rush you out.

So stopped in just to pick up a few orders of fries, big mistake! This was my second visit, my first was shortly after they opened, so I cut them some slack for being disorganized. Now this visit they've been opened for a while and should have their processes down. Boy was I wrong, this is the most disorganized restaurant I've ever seen. I ordered 5 orders of fries, pickles and a shake. (I know strange order) it took nearly 45 minutes, and that was my hounding them to hurry up and threatening to cancel the order. As far as the food goes, the fries were ok I'd say maybe slightly better than McDonalds, fried pickles were pretty good, shake was excellent. Buffalo fries I wish I could tell you how they were, I ordered them but didn't get them. Will never step foot in here again. Word of advice if there is more than 4 people waiting to order... Turn around and Walk out!

I went there on Monday. Burgers were delicious and the smashfries tasted great too. The place was clean and staff was friendly. The only thing I didn't like was how thin the fries were. I personally like my fries thicker. But they did taste good.

Another good and upcoming burger chain; I wish they were more original with their logo, though. I have eaten here about three or four times and they burgers are delicious but not anything special. I wouldn't choose this place in comparison to Shake Shack or BurgerFi - if given the option. However, if a well made burger is what you're looking for than you'll find it here. I'm not sure how "healthy" this place is, in regards to the quality of their meat (GMO, hormone free, grass fed, etc.), but I believe their burgers are 100% Angus Beef. Not that his matters to everyone on the hunt for a cheeseburger but it is something I try to look for when I'm out to eat. Smashburger has plenty of menu items that range from your standard burger to goat cheese chicken sandwiches (see photo). Whether you're a meat-lover or a vegetarian, there are options here for everyone and at an affordable cost. The sides are delicious as well and I will definitely eat here again. The staff is a little strange and overbearing at times so maybe next time I will just take it to go.

But seriously the Avocado Chicken Club is amazing. Get it. Now. Also, the haystack onions. Delicious. Oh, and the sweet potato fries. Try them both.

So I've been here a few times now, and each time I go in the experience gets worse to the point where my previous review no longer seems applicable. The lines can be very long here, and often times I see a single employee working the register while 2 employees are behind him/her chatting away. I understand if they aren't cashiers but if you aren't helping move the line along maybe doing something a little more productive or take taking your break in a less distracting place would be more helpful. And when we take a seat the tables have looked clean but were sticky like soda had been split and then dried. The quality of the burgers seem to range wildly from amazing to under cooked to charred. The shakes are great but be prepared to pay 5 bucks for a drink about the size of a small drink at most fast food places. I hope this place gets its act together.

Smash burgers is one of the better hamburger chains. I ordered the bacon cheddar burger with fries and fried pickles and a chocolate shake. Everything was fantastic except it took a long time for me to get my meal. I waited 30 minutes. Except for that I had a good experience. I'll be back

I had their veggie burgers and they are okay. One time though it was warm and not hot. I like that I can add whatever I want to the toppings. They are quick and efficient which is why I do not understand why my burger was cold.

Awesome place!! The mushroom, Swiss and truffle burger is my fave. I always get a side of the truffle mayo (it's to die for) The other burgers are awesome too the fries are ok but where the fries let it down the burger picks up the slack!!

  • Rose A.

I really enjoyed this place. Employees are really pleasant. There was only one small problem. I requested no mayo on my chicken and sure enough it was there. Tons if it. It was delicious, though! My mom got a burger and we shared the sweet potato fries. Very pleased with almost everything. I'll be back.

Three and a half stars. Really great food, friendly service and they have beer served in a frosted mug. Fries are amazing here and they have a lot of different options. Salads were just perfect. I really like the layout of Smashburger (looks like other Smashburgers), it looks neat and modern. Thumbs up.

This is one of my favorite new burger joints. The burgers and chicken sandwiches are all pretty good! The chicken club is my favorite thing on the menu. The sweet potato fries are great (try them with a side of honey mustard). They have a few decent beers available which is a plus. I also just tried a salad for the first time today, the classic Cobb with smashed chicken. It was very good, it would have been better with additional dressing options (blue cheese). The restaurant always looks pretty clean. Def worth a shot!

I'm knocking this place down a star. I love the food, I really do, but I consistently am disappointed by one thing or another here. On more than one occasion, I'll pay for an ingredient, and when I get home the ingredient isn't on top of my burger. Also, the sauce I order is rarely on the burger. I shouldn't have to check the burger before I leave. Last night, our cashier was confused about our order. We ordered 2 smash fries and had a coupon for free sweet potato fries, so we snagged those as well. So 3 orders in total. He even recreated it back to us, but was ultimately confused and went to get a key from the manager to take one fry off. So we go and wait for our food, and I inspect the receipt and see that the mistake was not remedied and we were still missing an order of fries. Honestly, I work in food service and deal with customers every single day, I understand what goes on. So when I brought it up to the manager, I assumed he would quickly remedy the situation. But, not before giving me a serious attitude and speaking to me like an idiot. I'm sorry, is it my fault the cashier didn't understand how to put in the order? He was rude and had the audacity to roll his eyes at me! To make matters worse, I have a serious issue with the fact that the manager wasn't wearing gloves as he placed orders in bags. He put his bare fingers in the cup to stand the fries up, close enough to touch them. That is unsanitary and if the health department showed up and saw that, they'd be in serious trouble. They need to get their acts together.

This place has very bad service. For one thing the web site says they open at 10:30 but when you get to the store store there is a sign that it opens at 11. So I waited until 11 and now there are a few people outside and they still are not opening the doors. One person gets frustrated and calls the store and they tell her that they open at 11. She replied that it's past 11. It's actually 11:10 and there are little kids waiting. They said "it's not 11 on our clock." They must have running on central standard time. I give it 2 stars because the food is good.

How this place is still in business is beyond me, I went in there with my son last summer and had the worst burgers I ever had to pay for, was passing by the other day with him and decided to give it another try, If you like stale rolls ,over cooked meat and fresh toppings, then this is your place, and it aint cheap either, for what you get. It is very clean though.

Not a happy camper. This weekday visit to my local Smashburger wasn't the same experience as before. The biggest issue was how dirty the place was. At least four tables we tried to sit down at were dirty. The worst table even had what looked like mayo or tarter sauce in the middle of the seat - gross. We had to get one of the teens off her iPhone for five minutes to clean the tables. With no management around I see a difference. Also, once again, BBQ burger had hardly any sauce. I had to request more on the side. Management needs to be present at a place like this or it's gonna just continue to go downhill.

Service was friendly, I asked like two questions and they seemed not bothered with my questions on their burger oz. We ordered the classic cheese burgers and cheese fries. I could tell as soon as it came out it was going to be tasty by Chef ben stardard, the cheese fries on the other hand are why they get 3 stars. They looked like a fried potato ab@$×!/&% on a metal plate. The cheese sauce was ice cold and clumpy, the shredded cheddar looks like they didn't even attempt to melt it. When I looked to my right and saw the greasy, long haired teens working on the grill I wasn't surprised. But when I was their age working in a "cheeburger" place I still would never send out shit like that. And for that I say step it the fuck up smash burger. If the owner has an issue with this, pm me.

Love the fries and the shakes, so yummy. I feel like the burgers could be great, but I find them greasy most of the time. I think its because of the smashing technique, and they cook in their own grease than. We tried them a few times now, and while we would eat almost everything else, we won't go back because of the burgers

First time at a smashburger and it was beyond tasty. Chicken avocado burger with bacon was mouth watering. Small, crunchy french fries were excellent. Finally a food franchise not trying to nickel and dime me. Employees also serve food to you too. Great food, great service, great price, ill be returning soon.

The best burgers in Long Island. I have been coming here since last year and everything is amazing. The burgers, grilled chicken avocado sandwiches and the Cobb Salads are amazing. The staff Is friendly and are very helpful. I am here at least 1-2 times a week!!

First time here. Sensational burger! Much neater presentation than Five Guys (the food that is, served in see-thru containers). Had the New Yorker, with chilli cheese fries, and an Oreo shake. All excellent. I must say, the place was empty, so there was no long lines or service backup. The price point is pretty much the same as Five Guys. Regardless, my cute host Diana, was very pleasant and made a great shake. The manager on duty was very friendly as well, and encouraged me to return. I will.....

I could be sitting around idly, driving home from work, or just futzing around in the supermarket and when the three fated words will pop into my head and strike me. Truffle. Mushroom. Swiss. *Cue Homer Simpson drooling sound ulgggggghhhhh* Yep, gotta get to smash. I'm not a burger person and I don't eat beef but I find myself getting cravings for the chicken burgers here. They're not the best chicken burgers I've ever had but with a side of fries and a fatkid milkshake I'm in heaven! The chicken burgers always hit the spot when they're perfectly cooked and always juicy. They offer multigrain buns and will axe the cheese and mayo if you want to go a little healthier. The spicy black bean burger never won me over, despite a few attempts. The heat was nice but the texture was blah and it kept falling apart. The standard fries are great, they're shoe string style and taste fast food like. It would be great if they offered the same type of fry but fresh cut with potato skins. As for their "smash fries", eh, I usually avoid them. I love rosemary and olive oil but they don't really do it for me. They're a little overwhelming with the flavor. As I previously stated, the milkshakes are great. Flavors change every so often too. They also offer honest teas unsweetened and sweetened in 3 varieties in house. Yum. Did I mention you can get a beer here? That's cool too. This location is easily spotted (how can you ignore the trendy ootz ootz lighting?) on the corner of a shopping center on wantagh ave. Service has always been good, especially when the cashier enlightened me of the ways of the milkshake. He suggested different combinations and offered to remake it if I didn't like it! Hello, of course I'm going to love a sugary diabetic coma flavored with butterfingers and cookies and cream. Smash's prices have gone up a since they first opened but they do offer free fries on the receipt when you complete a survey. They also occasionally mail out coupons if you sign up for their email list.

Smashburger is one of those fast food places where you are served at a table. You go to the register, place your order, get a number, and a server finds your number once your food is ready. I like that. Fast but still takes away the daunting task of having to carry your food around until you find a suitable table. I really enjoyed Smashburger. I opted for the BBQ, Bacon & Cheddar Big Smash (NY cheddar cheese, BBQ sauce, applewood smoked bacon, haystack onions, on an egg bun). My friend and I shared the traditional smashfries (tossed with rosemary, olive oil and garlic) and the sweet potato fries (seasoned with seasalt). The "big smash" was relatively small, so I can only imagine how small the regular smash is. A juicy, flavorful burger nonetheless. My only complaint would be that everything was a little too salty. But other than that, a great burger. Fries were yummy, just wish there were more!

Smash Burgers, (insert pun here) SMASHES Five Guys on pretty much every ground I could think of.. Burger Taste = superb, juicy, flavorful, soft and BIG Sweet Potato French Fries Taste = Rosemary olive oil yes! Crunchy and tasty! Vanilla MALT SHAKE = ULTRA YES! Awesome Haagen Dazs Vanilla icecream paied with a TON of MALT! Excellent! Malt Shake done RIGHT! Highly recommend. Only reason for me docking a star is that I find Smash Burger to be a bit pricey especially when considering all you're eating is an awesome cheese burger and not actual "restaurant" food per se.

I have gone to this place a few times and really enjoyed it. However my most recent visit completely killed this place for me. I want to clarify that I have an allergy to mushrooms, but I am not a lunatic about it. I placed my order for takeout and expected my mushroom free food. The burger looked odd when I unwrapped it, and I lifted the bun to find the fungus of my doom. Calmly I brought my bag of food back. When I explained what happened and showed the cashier my receipt she got me a whole new order. I should have checked the bag before I left but it was my own stupidity to think they couldn't possibly mess it up twice. I was so wrong, and I wasn't going to go back a third time. I contacted smashburger via email the next day and explained what happened. I wasn't expecting much, but I did REQUEST TO BE CONTACTED for at least an apology. I got nothing, and that's why they'll never get my business ever, EVER again.

I don't know what it is, but i'm just not drawn to this place. I was at an event here a while back (which is not swaying my opinion), had a great time there, yet only once stepped back in the doors, and it was only because I had time to kill at lunch time. Maybe it's the comparision to so many other burger joints in the area..? Either way, I got the New Yorker, as each Smashburger does a regional burger, which is actually really cool. Cheddar, garlic grilled onions, fresh spinach, tomato, and peppercorn garlic aioli, it was just, meh. The burger was slightly unseasoned, the onions were good but lacking in amount, spinach almost non existent, and the aioli was decent, but again, minimal amount. It's almost like they were thinking, we'll put just a smidge of this stuff on, that way they can get a good taste of everything, mostly the burger, buuuut it just didn't work. I also got the fries, ugh, who cuts fries this big?!? They were like Kraft mac n cheese size, come on.. Also, no taste, thank you ketchup invention. BUT, the oreo butterfinger shake, mmmmmmmmmm, delicious. And, what's cool, they give you the extra that was made. Overall, would I steer clear of this place, not necessarily. Would I go out of my way to go here though, nope.

so I'll start by saying that the food here is excellent and there's rarely a problem. the low rating is for service. the restaurant was crowded and multiple tables were dirty. also they forgot the chili on my moms chili burger...okay. also, a little expensive for casual food. 38 dollars for three people. I'll come back but only cause the grilled chicken sandwich is fantastic.

My daughter and I went tonight and the burgers were good, She loved hers and mine was good. I actually was gonna take her to DirtyBurger but they had a 25 minute wait and I wasn't in the mood to wait. I sure wish I did! The burger I ordered was ok, I ordered the big classic smash my daughter the regular smash, only the patty on mine was bigger. We both ordered regular fries and again they were ok but I have tasted better. They sold everything separate so for the 2 of us we spent $28 (I ordered a plain Hot Dog) Well at least one of us will be back, my daughter works about 5 minute away. I'm a DirtyBurger guy!

Walking in you notice the decor is very Mod- Space like. 9pm at night very bright but also very clean. Staff was friendly but I thought it was strange that they were getting ready to close/clean up with customers in the store, telling us to sit in one area so they could clean. It also seemed odd they decided to mop one area near the beverages, why take the risk of having someone slip and fall? Just seemed weird but I guess its Labor day Weekend, they were anxious to go out. My sister got a baja cobb salad with chicken on it $7.99. It was large and she enjoyed it but it did not leave her filled. I got a truffle mushroom swiss burger $6.99. It was good but nothing to rave about. There must have been a spice in the mayo that I was not crazy about but I know disliking rosemary & oregano is my own problem. I chose to get the "regular" size and I found it was not that filling either. The meat was fresh. I found the egg bun to be not so fresh or maybe like heated quickly in a microwave? Texture was weird. Burger was a bit greasy but that may have been from the truffle mayo. The fries $1.99 were good, the small type like a little thinner than Mcdonalds. When we arrived to meet a friend who lives in Wantagh, and told her that we ate their she was like yeah that place is OK I find it expensive for fast food. In comparison to Five Guys these burgers are weak. Five guys are much more filling and heartier.

The food was average, but it was fresh. Prices are much too high. The restaurant was clean and appealing. I'd give three stars but the expense just doesn't merit three.

This was my first time at Smashburger and it was AWESOME. First off, the decor was really cool and inviting. The staff, from what I've experienced, was pretty friendly and helpful. Now for the food. I ordered the Truffle Mushroom Swiss burger, Smashfries with cheese, and Salted Caramel milkshake. Everything came out at a reasonable time and I didn't have to wait long for the food (granted it was only like 7 or 8 of us in the place). The burger was AMAZING. It was made to order, seasoned perfectly, and absolutely delicious. The fries had the best seasoning and the fake, unprocessed cheese on top was a huge plus. I loved it. The milkshake was honestly the best caramel milkshake I've ever had. It was so good. I loved how they give you the leftovers from the shake in that mix cup, too, instead of just like throwing it away. It was a nice touch. Overall, this place was awesome and I'll definitely be visiting again. I only gave it 4 stars because it was only my first time here. I need to explore the menu a bit more first before giving it 5 stars :)

This place is close by my house and never disappoints . It's a classic Burger spot, with the best Oreo milk shake around , I know that's a bold statement but I stand by it. I think the shakes are better then the burgers if that's possible. If your a little crispy fires onion fan this place is for you , my wife gets those little fired onions with bleu cheese and it's really good. Their cheesy fries are awesome and they have honest tea on tap. Lots of windows and they have cold beers if you want with your burger.

Well-done Smashburger (pun completely intended.) I literally pass by this place every week and have never walked in. I know it's gotten a lot of hype since opening up in Wantagh. I've tried it's competitors such as Red Robin and Five Guys. And I wasn't sure how they were gonna measure up. But wow, was I impressed! The outside looks very modern, bold and hip. I think the HUGE bold fonted letters make quite the impression. When walking in it was clear I was new. I was looking around like a deer lost in the woods. I noticed that the place was super clean and mod-looking. The menu was plastered on these big flatscreen panels on the wall. The girls working there were very nice and were patient with my overwhelming impression of the place. I'm a foodie at heart. When I'm at a new place I gotta look at EVERYTHING. I love that things are very customizable without the extra cost. You can get a sandwich (beef, veggie or chicken) to the way you like it. Now that's what I call giving the customer what they want! I asked the girl what she likes and got the Grilled Chicken Sandwich Avocado Club. Here was what I put on it: I omitted the Ranch and Mayo. I was feeling kinda a spicy mood so I opted on the spicy chipotle sauce. I also got lettuce, tomato and onion. Classic. On the whole grain bun. I got it to-go...it came out in like 5-10 minutes. Quick! When I brought the sandwich home it was piping hot and delicious. The chicken was juicy and flavorful. It was a well done meal and I have to say what topped it off was that spicy chipotle. It had such a kick. I cannot wait to try the other items on the menu. Next time I'll get the burger and maybe their smash sauce. (Let's take a moment and make a "Goodburger" reference.) I'll be back very soon!!!

Burgers are good fries are so-so. Personally I prefer 5 Guys, but still a solid burger.

  • Donnie D.

burgers are better than shake shack. shake shack relies on their bun and cheese to mask the fact that their beef patties are dry and tasteless. five guys burger is just... no. it wants to be epic and it always 'looks' great, but it's not even on par with a wendys burger. the smashburger classic was pretty much the best fast food burger i've ever had. it tasted super fresh and clean with the veges (shack burger lacks that), but the beef patty itself also stood on it's own. the patty was relatively juicy, had a great crust, and was SEASONED well. this burger tasted more like an in-n-out burger, but the beef in the smashburger is superior. fries were super thin and crispy, something you may or may not enjoy. i personally liked the fact that it was a different type of fry. the prices were what you would expect for a higher end fast food joint but still very reasonable. service was quick and easy. all in all, my new go to fast food burger joint.

Wasn't as good as it used to be,,big drop off in the quality of the food. I ordered a bacon cheeseburger and a reg burger with smashsauce and pickles, smash ff and i wanted just a plain hot dog and was told that i couldn't get one. HUH? that i would have to order a kids meal so i was like ok and ordered one. I was standing there waiting for the food and asked for a cup for the kids beverage only to be told that the kids meals don't come with a drink. Since when? thats crazy,,i've never had to play extra for a kids drink with a kids meal. The people that work there look absolutely miserable as well. I felt like i was bothering them the entire time i was there and won't be returning to this location. Shake shack in westbury blows this place away

Mind-blowing burgers! Five Guys lovers will seriously reconsider. Good: -Delicious burgers that come out no more than 10 minutes after you order -Clean dining areas -Customer service: the cashiers don't rush you like it's a fast-food joint, and explain/answer questions about the burgers -New Yorker Burger is very tasty, must have -BBQ, Bacon & Cheddar is the tastiest heart attack you can have -Sweet potato fries are a solid choice -Smashfries are a better choice (sea salt & rosemary) so flavorful -Oreo milkshakes left me with a smile on my face Bad: -none, it is a tasty lunch to have during the day, enjoy yourself -the burger is worth the price, don't be stingy

What can I say? I love all Smashburgers! They offer a great price, selection and product! PLUS - you can have yourself a beer too. And, I know this sounds ridiculous, but I am a huge fan of their salads, too! I don't think this one is laid out as nicely as some of the other ones, but I don't care - because I love having one that is this close to my job! Awesome!

Food sub par and incorrect. Ordered burger with cheese and other toppings no cheese. Ordered smash fries got regular fries. Ordered milkshake, person at the counter said yes it's in the bag. Wrong not in bag had to go back to get it. I'll be going back to Five Guys instead.

I had a similar experience to Lorraine K. I went here for a takeout order. I ordered a black bean burger, which was good. I also ordered smash fries. When I finished eating my fried I noticed hair on the bottom. I contacted them through e mail to tell them what happened. I never received a response back.

My first visit to Smashburger was on a Saturday Afternoon and it was packed. YOu place your order, get a number which you place on the table and they bring your food directly to your table. The staff is extremely friendly and clear the tables pretty quickly so there isn't a large wait to sit. On my first visit I had one of their burgers. I had my doubts about the burgers when I heard the were "smashed", which I always equate with dryness, but this burger was juicy and delicious-cooked perfectly. On my second visit I had a chicken sandwich. The chicken was grilled to perfection and absolutely delicious, As for the sides: on my first visit I had the fries, which I was quite disappointed with as they seemed like frozen fries. I have had much better. On the second visit we decided to try the haystack onions and the veggie frites, both of which were delicious. If you join the Smashburger club online you get some great coupons, today we got buy 1 get 1 free chicken sandwiches!! This is a place I will definitely frequent.

2013 started with a smash. Before the traditional weight watching and calorie counting commences, I decided to start the new year right. I took the g/f to greet our newest neighbors....Smashburger. In my opinion the burgers here are better than five guys'. They are both greasy and unhealthy for you but I just like the flavor and array of choices (from buns to toppings). The smashfries need some improvement though. Even with the addition of rosemary, they are rather plain tasting... would have preferred some zesty waffle fries instead. Give it a try... get smashed.

smash. sizzle. savor. What a great tagline and what a great burger!! I had the privilege of enjoying my first trip here and it lived up to the great reviews. The classic cheeseburger was excellent. The beef was delicious and the smash sauce could become an addiction. The egg bun was great and overall it was a delicious messy meal! The smash fries are seasoned with garlic, olive oil and rosemary, none of which were too overpowering and a perfect compliment to the shoestring fries. The size of the burger and the fries was not skimpy but just right for me. The staff was super friendly. You place your order and are given a number to put on your table while you wait for the food to be delivered. The wait was super short, maybe 3 or 4 minutes tops. I was asked a couple times by staff if everything was good and I really appreciate how it seems like the staff are actually enjoying working there. Not your usual fast food employees at all, looked much more like the staff of a local hip restaurant or bar. Nice clean white tables, stocked with just the basics; ketchup, mustard, s&p, and napkins. Drinks are self serve and thus free refills. I will be coming back again soon to this great new addition to Wantagh.

I love burgers and so does my fiance. We got gift cards to Smashburger for Christmas and finally used them a few days ago. WE ARE IN LOVE! They have a smaller amount of toppings than Cheeburger Cheeburger, but their quality definitely outweighs that. The burger was super juicy and the bun was perfect. I got fried pickles, my fiance got fries. The pickles were crunchy and perfect, the fries were shoestring and perfectly seasoned. They even have tzatziki sauce!! I told my mom about how good it was. She went with my sister last night, and brought my grandma back tonight! She's obsessed too. Five guys and Cheeburger pale in comparison to this place. We will definitely be back!

After we got home and discovered the inaccuracy of the order, we telephoned the store and spoke to a manager 'Sukhy' at 2:10 PM. Sukhy apologized and said to come back and he would redo the order. We went back the following day, as there was a snowstorm on Long Island last night. I returned today, and was told that now Sukhy could only take off ONE side and ONE salad. When asked why, he responded "Because I spoke to them in the back." Apparently, Sukhy is not in full control of your restaurant, and is intimidated by the kitchen staff. I hesitate to return to that location, between the counter person saying "I don't know why these gloves are even here" and the poor quality of the food. When I told Sukhy about the sanitary concerns, he told me that the Health Department had been there last week. Apparently, Sukhy needs a management certification course, and your employees need to be brought up to speed on the regulations for food handlers. Your manager's kitchen problems (Confirmed by the Counter person-she said "I took the order but...them back there...") are probably not anything that can be successfully addressed without a change in management.

I have never had a bad meal here and have been here so many times! Much better than any chain restaurant.

Overpriced. Mediocre food. Go to five guys before you even think about going to this place, in my opinion

  • Neal S.

I have eaten here 5 times. Worst fries I have ever had, they are very thin and badly dried out. Pretty clean and cool inside. The burgers are WAY too salty. Hours after I eat here, my mouth and throat feel like I swallowed battery acid.

  • Steven M.

I pretty much agree with what most people are saying about this place. Seems the greasy over the top burger is back in style just about everywhere. These guys make you feel a bit less guilty tho. I can't believe 5 guys has such a great reputation I got fries there once and a cheeseburger and actually threw most of it out. The fries were in puddle of grease and the burger was soggy and nasty -- tho I did have it to go. I went to the one on Levittown so maybe it's just that branch. I had low expectations for SmashBurger but they really offer a great burger and toppings choices. Parking lot a bit annoying because it's too small but worth the wait.

I came here for the first time with my girlfriend and it was one of the nicest food experiences ever. The staff was very accommodating. We split a burger fries and shake. The burger was nicely cut in half and the shake was delivered in separate glasses with whipped cream. We didn't even have to ask for separate cups. The food was also delicious. The nutter butter shake was awesome, the burger was juicy and delicious, and the fries were crispy and great. And the price was extremely reasonable. Well worth 5 stars!!

As far as quality, you can definitely notice the quality of beef. The thing is in NY you can find quality burgers in various diners. And their signature burger the Smash burger has no signature at all other then the egg bun which does have an interesting soft fresh texture to it, but no particular signature flavor. The only signature is the one you'd put on, the ever infamous ketchup and mustard ingredients. Everyone is different about what they look for in a burger, but for me, if I can make it easily at home, or find it easily in diner locations, there's no urgency to go get it at your establishment. The big fast food chain companies may offer less quality, but offer a definitive signature burger. I had the nutter butter shake which was okay, but mostly vanilla flavor. You couldn't really taste any peanut butter. The service style is strange too. Didn't know if you had a waiter or not. They bring you the food and pick up after you but not really a wait service where you order from a table and get served. So the tipping a bit confusing to establish, but not rocket science either lol You leave what you want I suppose. All in all great quality, not so flavorful.

Went here with a couple of friends today. The food was excellent, the service was awesome and the environment was different (in a good way). Give this place a shot, everyone enjoyed it.

We really enjoyed this place. The burgers are really good and the sides are tops. The staff is so pleasant and attentive, the place is clean. The fries! They are perfectly crisp and so addictive! The haystack onions fried crisp with that sauce (similar to bloomin onion sauce) are great too! We will definitely be back. They have a nice sized menu offering salads and chicken as well, so it seems like there is something for everyone. We love the chilled glasses, the service and the not fast-food feeling we got there.

I live dangerously close to this place. Fortunately for my waistline, it shouldn't pose a problem like I thought it might. The burgers are above average. Expect 80% lean cooked on a flat top; excuse me, "smashed" on a flat top. The burgers are juicy; the rolls, the sauces, the toppings are very high quality. The fries do not cut it. I've tried the soggy veggie frites, I've tried the sweet potato, the smash fries, regular fries et al, but none are that interesting. $4 beers, $5 haagen daaz ice cream shakes - Beverages are clearly a step above most burger joints. I'll be back, I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this place to friends and family.

Yes, the burger seems small and is greasy, but it's also kind of delicious. And the rosemary olive oil fries were delightful--as was the decor and friendly counter staff. Not as go as it gets, but close.

I can't speak for every smashburger, as I've had good experiences at other ones.. But the Wantagh smashburger leaves a LOT to be desired. Firstly, they have the most unprofessional staff I've ever seen. Granted, they are all 17 year olds.. But they have private conversations on the floor, I've seen them bum cigarettes off each other and yell into the kitchen that they are going out for a smoke. Every burger I get has a bottom bun that I could squeeze out and fill an entire cup with grease. Every order has something wrong or is missing something. I'd appreciate if they'd spend a little more time on customer service and less time on fraternization and inside jokes with each other.

Visited on a rainy Sunday, ordered the New Yorker burger which was very tasty with garlic aioli, fresh baby spinach. Along with the burger I got the smash fries which are seasoned with rosemary. Both were very tasty. Kids ordered kids burger and split an Oreo shake. Spouse ordered the spinach and goat chesse salad, very fresh and tasted good.

For those of you who gave smashburger 1 star just go to McDonald's or Burger King and eat that garbage, or go to five guys and spend 16 dollars on a burger fries and drink.. How anyone can complain about this place is mind boggling!!!!

Great place for good burger or chicken sandwich . Good fries and love shoe string onion rings . Had just taste of granddaughter 's Oreo Chocalate shake , quite good and she loved every bit of it.

Went to smashburger around 3:30 on saturday and the place was hopping even at that odd time. You walk in place your order and they give you a number which you place on your table and they bring you your food. The staff was very friendly and the burger was great! I had the classic cheeseburger which was cooked perfectly, and was extremely juicy. The bun was toasted and nice and fresh. The only thing I really wasn't a huge fan of was the fries, they tasted like they are frozen, not fresh like the burger or other ingredients. Five guys fries are def better. Next time I will try a different side. Other than that the place was great and I would def go back.

Shocking how good Smashburger really is. My friends and family have always told me to go and try it out (considering I love the burgers at BurgerFi). I have to say, Smashburger smashed the competition..... I tried the burger and the chicken burger, and they were outstanding. The Rosemary fries were more like fries that you would find at an upscale restaurant, and they tasted just great, plus were fried to perfection. The soda machine was your typical run of the mill dispenser. But the atmosphere was outstanding, and more importantly, The staff treated us great. They were extremely accommodating, friendly and nice. It's not like a five-star restaurant, but it's exactly what you want in a burger place. Highly recommend

So, although the burger & fries are decent, the price is a bit high for just a burger & fries. I ordered & paid extra for onion strings on my burger & when I got home, of course there was no onion strings on my burger. I prefer shake shack hands down!

    (2)
  • E P.

This is definitely as close to fast food as you can without going to the usual suspects. The bun was definitely enjoyable, as was the vanilla shake, but the fries were very greasy and worst of all the hamburger. The patty is extremely thin, it is not juicy, it is bland. One bite of it and I remembered why I don't eat traditional fast food- it's so much more worth it to spend a little extra.

I have been hearing really great things about Smash Burger from friends. We decided to come here one day for lunch and it is definitely worth the hype. The burgers are made fresh and even though it has a "fast food" type of feel to the place, the food is really good and doesn't taste like fast food at all. Everything came out within 5-10 minutes, our shakes came out first and helped hold us over till our food was served. The rosemary fries were delicious and the burger was just right. The price is on point too.

Been here twice with the same exact result. The people that work here are friendly but are completely overshadowed by greasy over-priced burgers with a stingy amount of toppings. It's a shame when the best thing served are the fries.

I have been here once. It was a great experience. I expected it to be a run-of-the-mill burger joint, but they make it a bit better. I like their burger options. I ended up getting a classic cheeseburger and a chili side. They welcome out very friendly and ask if you've been there before. Then, instead of taking a number or waiting for your food. You get a placard to place on your table, and they bring your meal out to you. Very nice touch. The food was excellent. The staff was friendly. The manager even was going around to make sure everyone was having a good experience. The tables were clean, as was the rest of the establishment. I liked the decor. I would go back more often.

Someone gave us a gift certificate to Smashburger so we high tailed it over for lunch in Wantagh. Service: EXCELLENT. They couldn't be nicer. They delivered our food to the table. And there are no garbage pails so we couldn't even clear our places when we were leaving. There is a tip jar at the front by the register so we left a tip. Atmosphere: Nicer than a general fast food place. We got a table immediately. But still fast food atmosphere. Food: I got the bacon cheeseburger and had them add lots of jalapeno peppers. We also ordered the Smashfries. While the taste of everything tasted OK (nothing like the bacon cheeseburger I reviewed a few weeks ago at the Peekskill Brewery!), it all glistened with GREASE. Really way too much grease for my taste. But I LOOOOVED having the jalapenos and the bacon on the burger. I really enjoyed that! The french fries were so tiny and thin. They weren't satisfying at all. While the meal wasn't horrible, we would opt to go to All American in Massapequa any time over going back here. Now, if I compare it to McDonalds, Burger King or Wendys, there is no comparison. This place blows them away. Cost: We got 2 hamburgers, 1 fries and 1 drink and the bill came to $19. I thought that was quite steep.

Stopped by on a busy Saturday night when the line was out the front door. Despite the long line, we were out in less than 20 minutes with our takeout order. I ordered the Baja burger featuring guacamole and jalapeño. The burger had good flavor and still had pink in the middle; in other words, perfect. Fries were pedestrian, but the chocolate shake was delicious. I'll give the staff props for busting their asses. The registers, server area and kitchen were all in full view as we waited for our pickup so we could see that everyone was hustling and friendly. Overall good spot for burgers that has an atmosphere and loud noise level typical of a family fast food restaurant.

Awful food. Everything is super greasy, even by hamburger and fast food standards. Burger is smashed (obviously) thin and there is no meat and was undercooked. I'm not a big guy and the portion is way too small for me. Overly priced and the sides are even worse. Only thing I liked about meal were the fries. I was left with a nauseous feeling in my stomach and literally a bad taste in my mouth. I hate to be so negative but this place is only a half step above burger king. Five Guys is much much much better. Some negative points: -Everybody's burger was undercooked. -Everything was doused in grease -Watch where you step by bathrooms because the grease is literally caking the floor as you pass the open kitchen -Small portion that is smashed to oblivion. -Fried pickles were only about 5% actual pickle Positives: -The fries were good - They serve beer to help drown out the taste of everything else and if you drink enough you will forget how bad this place is. Don't know what everybody is raving about. I've had better burgers at Applebee's.

I would go back just for the burger, but the fries are a joke. Rather buy their burger then go across the street to KFC and get the wedges lol.

Went here today for a late lunch/dinner with my husband. We both had pretty high hopes and I think we both left disappointed. It wasn't bad by any means, but it wasn't as delicious as we were expecting. Here are the good points- it's immaculately clean, decor is modern, music is good, and the staff brings you your food and cleans up your mess. Unfortunately for us, the burgers were just ok. The ingredients are fresh, but the burger itself was kinda bland. I had a chocolate shake and it was just ok. Fried pickles were too salty. We did however both agree that the smash fries were delicious- crispy and full of flavor. Bottom line: for a delicious burger, my stomach chooses All American and Five Guys over Smashburger.

I've been on a bit of a burger tear lately, so I figured I might as well get myself over here. This is the last of the big name burger places I was yet to try, and it's only 5 minutes from my house too. I compare all burger places like this to what I consider the gold standard for burgers: Shake Shack. After eating here, my gold standard remains Shake Shack. Smashburger was good, but I didn't really find it anything to write home about. The fried pickles were tasty, but a bit soggy. They didn't have that crunchy bite on the outside that contrasts nicely with the soft interior. The staff also forgot to give me the buttermilk ranch that is supposed to come with them, so I had to do without that. The Smashfries were very good, seasoned nicely with rosemary and sea salt, but perhaps a bit too much of the latter. As for the burger itself, I got the New Yorker, which is an interesting combination of toppings, it was well cooked and tasty too, just not outstanding. I heard great things about their shakes, but I didn't get myself one this time. Maybe next time. I was really hoping for more from Smashburger considering some of the reviews on here, but unfortunately they didn't deliver. I'd be willing to eat here again, and certainly to give them another try, but if I had to choose, I'd much rather take the longer drive to Shake Shack.

delicious! finally had a chance to check this place out, and i have to say...the food is great! burgers are really good, alot of flavor. staff and manager are very friendly and very helpful. are these burgers better than shake shack, and 5 guys? yes...yes they are. if your a fan of burgers, you should definitely check this place out. also have to add that the shakes are very good...never had a nutter butter shake before? now is your chance tip! order the peanut butter and jelly shake off the secret menu, its really good!

Ate here 2x for lunch. Light crowd both times which was surprising. The food is awesome. Burgers fries and shakes are redic. Burgers are cooked perfectly and loaded with fresh LTOP. The fries are always crisp and full of flavor. Shakes? Make you cry. If your in Wantaugh area, don't hesitate to drop in this burger joint.

Was perfect for a quick bite to eat! Veggie burger and regular burger were both tasty. Fries were solid as were onion straws. Love the unlimited dipping sauces!

The burgers here are excellent, thick and juicy as they get! We had a bit of an excessive wait for which the manager apologized. The cooks seem very professional. One thing I wasn't too crazy about; I tried my wifes mushroom aioli burger and was not loving the mixture of the flavors. My burger, the New Yorker I think it was called, was A+! The onion straws or whatever they're called were too greasy. Fries were good.

I'd heard such good things about SmashBurger and was really excited to find that I live close to not one, but TWO restaurants! Their burgers are better than Five Guys in variety and freshness. No greasy nastiness here, just good beef, cheese and veggies! I like the New Yorker the most, very cool ingredients and flavors. I can't wait to try their Haagen Daz shakes as well, but I was very satisfied with the sandwiches!

this place is a great find! i went to the yelp event and i was halfway through the tasting and i have never had gourmet burgers like this! amazing place! i would recommend it to anyone who is looking for an unbelievable burger! between the new yorker and the mushroom swiss burger i cannot decide which i like better! the milkshakes were unbelievable and i am coming back as soon as i can!

despite an identical menu to their sister location in hicksville, i found the wantagh smashburger to be a far more pleasant experience...maybe it's the less crowded parking lot, maybe it's the friendlier staff - the food having been cooked a little more on point didn't hurt things either...definitely a great new burger spot here in wantagh

  • Christina B.

Okay....their black bean burger was awful, but their regular cheddar bbq bacon burger was delicious! Loved the staff and the food came out pretty fast and HOT! Loved their fried pickles too. We weren't too fond of the onion strings, but everyone is different.

Tried this place for the first time last weekend. The interior is very modern and clean looking. I liked the idea that this place is fast casual and they bring the food out to you compared to every other burger joint where you wait for your order at the counter. Between the 3 of us I got to try the burger, the chicken and one of the salads. The burger was very good, but the bun was a bit wet from the grease upon delivery. I tried the smash fries and enjoyed them because they were seasoned nicely, yet the seasoning didn't overpower the fries. The quality of the grilled chicken was good too. I'm going to subtract a star because I wasn't a fan of the balsamic salad dressing used on the salad. It was very processed, and commercial tasting. I will be returning another time to try some of the burger/chicken creations that were on the menu.

Perfect place for family lunch or dinner. The burgers taste great! You have to order the smash sweet and regular fries. It has a touch of rosemary to it. If you don't like rosemary, than forget it. The burgers were flavored perfectly. Kids wants to come again and again, they no longer want McDonald. Cashier is helpful. Routine is to ask if you have been here before and of not they will go through their routine. If you dine in, they will give you a number to place at your table. If it is crowded, have somebody get a table first. Most people order take out to avoid the crowd during busy hour. Table selection is self service. The food were severed timely. Restroom were super clean.

Smashburger, you're my fav. Now I don't have to drive to "All American" in Massapequa. It's so cute and the staff is so cheerful. The line can get long, but the most I've ever waited on a weeknight during dinner hours is 10min and another 10min for the food. It moves fast, the food is delicious, and my order has never been wrong. Next visit, I will request unsalted fries...they can be too salty sometimes.

  • Bradley R.

I was extremely impressed with the selection and quality of burgers. This place is really quality and if you want to satisfy your burger craving this is definitely the place to go. The shakes were really delicious, I had a chocolate and its Hagen daz brand, so good. If you like burgers and shakes or want a quality craft beer this is a cool spot to stop at and grab a quick tasty bite.

How anyone gave smash burger a bad review is mind boggling. This place blows away anyone out their when it comes to fast food hamburgers. I see people complaining their overpriced go to 5 guys then an spend 16 dollars on a burger an fries then. Or better yet go to Wendy's Burger King or McDonald's an eat crap. Smash burger is not overpriced.

I love their butterfinger shake and the mountain of crunchy onions. The fries were good (like shake shack's better) and sadly they do not have cheese sauce. I ordered a salad. It was good. Next time I might try a burger since it is a burger joint.

  • Jihye B.

  • Donnie D.

burgers are better than shake shack. shake shack relies on their bun and cheese to mask the fact that their beef patties are dry and tasteless. five guys burger is just... no. it wants to be epic and it always 'looks' great, but it's not even on par with a wendys burger. the smashburger classic was pretty much the best fast food burger i've ever had. it tasted super fresh and clean with the veges (shack burger lacks that), but the beef patty itself also stood on it's own. the patty was relatively juicy, had a great crust, and was SEASONED well. this burger tasted more like an in-n-out burger, but the beef in the smashburger is superior. fries were super thin and crispy, something you may or may not enjoy. i personally liked the fact that it was a different type of fry. the prices were what you would expect for a higher end fast food joint but still very reasonable. service was quick and easy. all in all, my new go to fast food burger joint.

Accepts coupons. great burgers. Truffle burger has pretty good truffle mayo. Salads are freakin huge! Even the veggie bean burger is pretty good

Burger was good, on par with 5 guys and a lot less greasy. The fries however are unforgiveable. They suck!!!

delicious! finally had a chance to check this place out, and i have to say...the food is great! burgers are really good, alot of flavor. staff and manager are very friendly and very helpful. are these burgers better than shake shack, and 5 guys? yes...yes they are. if your a fan of burgers, you should definitely check this place out. also have to add that the shakes are very good...never had a nutter butter shake before? now is your chance tip! order the peanut butter and jelly shake off the secret menu, its really good!

Fries were good.

this place is a great find! i went to the yelp event and i was halfway through the tasting and i have never had gourmet burgers like this! amazing place! i would recommend it to anyone who is looking for an unbelievable burger! between the new yorker and the mushroom swiss burger i cannot decide which i like better! the milkshakes were unbelievable and i am coming back as soon as i can!

despite an identical menu to their sister location in hicksville, i found the wantagh smashburger to be a far more pleasant experience...maybe it's the less crowded parking lot, maybe it's the friendlier staff - the food having been cooked a little more on point didn't hurt things either...definitely a great new burger spot here in wantagh
